WISEPIM runs an MCP server that Claude can connect to. Once connected, Claude can search your catalog, read quality scores and analytics, look at your enrichment settings and prompts, and prepare enrichment, translation, research and catalog jobs. Every change runs through WISEPIM’s own pipelines, and you decide per connection whether Claude applies changes itself or waits for your approval in WISEPIM. What this page enables: you can work on your catalog from Claude Code or the Claude apps while Claude only sees one project, only with the permissions you allowed, and applies changes only within those permissions, with an approval step in WISEPIM if you switch it on. Where to find it: start in Claude: in Claude Code, add the WISEPIM server with the command below and sign in through /mcp. Afterwards, manage the connection in WISEPIM under Settings > Connected apps.

Ways to connect

All of them use the same server:
https://docs.wisepim.com/mcp is a different server. It answers questions about these docs and has no access to your account or catalog.

Before you start

  • A WISEPIM account. No account yet? The sign-in page links to signup, and the connection picks up where it left off once you finish setup.
  • A project you can edit if Claude should prepare changes. Write permissions are only offered for projects where you are the owner, an admin or editor, or have a custom role that can edit products.
  • For Claude Code: version 2.1.231 or later, and port 8765 free on your computer while you sign in.

Connect Claude Code

1

Add the WISEPIM server

Run this in your terminal:
wisepim-claude-code is WISEPIM’s registered client for Claude Code. It has no secret, and you don’t need an API key.
2

Sign in from Claude Code

Start Claude Code, run /mcp, pick wisepim and authenticate. Your browser opens WISEPIM.
3

Sign in to WISEPIM and review the request

Use your normal WISEPIM sign-in. The Connect WISEPIM screen shows which assistant asks for access and the account you are signed in with, followed by the Requested permissions.
4

Choose a project

Under Choose a project, pick exactly one: “Only this project will be accessible through this connection.”
5

Decide whether changes need your approval

When the request includes a permission that changes the catalog, the card offers Require approval before changes. Leave it off and Claude applies the changes you ask for within its permissions: “Your assistant can apply changes and start jobs within the permissions you grant. WISEPIM still checks access, data freshness and credits.” Switch it on and every change waits for your approval in WISEPIM. You can change this later under Settings > Connected apps.
6

Allow access

Click Allow access. WISEPIM hands the sign-in back to Claude Code on http://localhost:8765/callback, and the server shows as connected.

The permissions Claude can ask for

The consent screen lists exactly what this request asks for. Permissions never go beyond your own role, and WISEPIM checks your role again on every request. A permission that a newer version needs is not granted silently: you reconnect and approve it.

Install the WISEPIM plugin for Claude Code

The plugin bundles the same connection with 17 skills: ready-made workflows that tell Claude how to use the WISEPIM tools step by step. It will be listed in Claude’s plugin directory once the listing is approved. Until then, load it from the public repository at github.com/lldiegon/wisepim-claude-plugin. Clone it and start Claude Code with the plugin folder:
Then sign in through /mcp as above. Use a skill by its name, or just describe your task. The plugin runs nothing on your computer: no local server, hooks or telemetry. It only talks to https://wisepim.com/mcp.

Claude on the web, Desktop and mobile

The Claude apps connect through a WISEPIM connector in Claude’s connector directory, with its own sign-in client. Once the listing is approved, add WISEPIM from the directory and go through the same sign-in and consent screen as above.
Adding https://wisepim.com/mcp as a custom connector by URL doesn’t work: WISEPIM only accepts its registered clients and doesn’t register new ones automatically. Use Claude Code for now, or wait for the directory listing.

What you can ask

  • “Help me get my catalog set up.”
  • “Find products missing a Dutch description and prepare them for my review.”
  • “Research missing facts for these products.”
  • “Use available search data to prioritize these products.”
  • “Review my enrichment settings and saved prompts.”
For a precise selection, Claude turns your request into a WISEPIM filter, shows how it read it and how many products match, and only then works with that selection. If part of your request can’t become a filter, it asks instead of guessing.

The tools behind it

The WISEPIM server offers 35 tools. Each needs one or more permissions: Catalog jobs cover five of the Catalog Jobs: Fill the gaps, Complete a supplier sheet (rows you already imported), Fix missing images, Map categories between shops and Get ready for Google and Meta ads. Jobs started from Claude never export. Claude can’t handle billing, credentials, team access, deleting products, exports or publishing. It doesn’t generate images, video or audio, read PDFs, or import new files. Do those in WISEPIM itself.

Review and approve changes

1

Claude prepares a proposal

It freezes the exact products, fields, languages, saved prompt and settings, and works out a credit estimate. Nothing runs yet.
2

With approval off, Claude applies it

This is the default. Claude applies the proposal within its permissions and, for enrichment, translation, research and catalog jobs, starts the job. Ask it for the review link to see exactly what it did, and for progress until the job is done.
3

With approval on, you review it in WISEPIM

Claude gives you a review link and waits. The link opens Review assistant changes, signed in as the account that made the connection. Check the Action to authorize, its target, “Estimated WISEPIM credits” and every selected product by name and image. Text edits show Current value and Proposed value side by side, with a flag for the language of each translated field.
4

You approve or reject

Click Approve this proposal or Reject proposal. Claude has no tool to approve its own proposal, and a “yes” in the chat doesn’t count as approval.
5

Claude applies it

Back in Claude, ask it to apply the proposal. For enrichment, translation, research and catalog jobs, this starts the job. Ask Claude for progress until it is done.
The proposal is fixed once it exists. If a selected product, the prompt or the settings change before you apply it, the status becomes Needs a new preview and Claude prepares a fresh one. For enrichment you approve the action and its estimate; the text is generated when the job runs.
With approval on: “Approval covers exactly this proposal. Your assistant must then apply it before it expires. Approval alone does not change your catalog.” A proposal expires one hour after Claude creates it.
All review statuses are explained on Connected Apps.

Credits

Actions started from Claude use your normal WISEPIM credits, from the same balance as actions in the app, and show up on the Usage page.

Limits

Disconnect

In WISEPIM, go to Settings > Connected apps, click Revoke access on the connection and then Confirm revocation. This “stops new requests and invalidates pending approvals for this connection.” Your catalog data stays in WISEPIM. To remove the server from Claude Code as well, run claude mcp remove wisepim. Connections also expire on their own; the date is under Expires.

Troubleshooting

Claude Code waits for WISEPIM on port 8765. Make sure nothing else uses that port and that you run Claude Code 2.1.231 or later, then authenticate again through /mcp. Don’t change the port: WISEPIM only accepts http://localhost:8765/callback.
The request includes permissions that change the catalog, so only projects you can edit are listed. Ask the project owner or an admin for an editor role, or deny the request.
The request timed out, for example during a long signup. Start the connection again from Claude.
WISEPIM can’t accept new connections right now. Try again later.
The proposal expired, the connection was revoked, or you are signed in to WISEPIM with a different account than the one you connected. Sign in with the right account, or ask Claude for a new preview.
Proposals take at most 500 products. Narrow the filter, or ask Claude to split the work into batches that you review one by one.
Your connection may lack a permission that the newer skills need. Connect again and approve the new permission.

Act on what you find

Ask it to prepare enrichment or translation for exactly those products, then check the selection and the credit estimate before the job runs: on the review page when approval is on, in Claude’s answer when it is off.
Approval is off by default. Switch on Require approval before changes for the connection under Settings > Connected apps, and every later change waits for you in WISEPIM. The review link for the change that already landed shows exactly what was applied.
Ask Claude to apply it, and later ask for the job’s progress. A queued job is not a finished one.
Ask Claude to read the products back, or open them in WISEPIM. Catalog jobs can leave suggestions in their review queue; check them in Catalog Jobs.
Revoke it under Settings > Connected apps and remove the server from Claude Code.
