Customer Groups

Customer groups let you segment your customers so you can offer different pricing to different audiences. Common examples include B2B customers, wholesale buyers, VIP members, and retail customers.

Creating a Customer Group

1

Navigate to Customer Groups

Go to Discounts > Customer Groups from the sidebar.
2

Click Create

Open the creation form to define a new group.
3

Fill in group details

Enter a name (e.g., “Wholesale”), a unique code (e.g., wholesale), and an optional description.
4

Configure options

Set whether the group requires approval before customers can join, and whether it should be the default group for new customers.
5

Map to platforms (optional)

If you have connected e-commerce platforms, map this group to the corresponding customer group on each platform for automatic synchronization.
6

Save the group

Click Save to create the customer group. It will appear in the groups list immediately.

Managing Customer Groups

The Customer Groups page displays key stats:
  • Total Groups — How many customer groups you have
  • Active Groups — Groups that are currently enabled
  • Require Approval — Groups where customers must be approved before receiving group pricing
  • Platform Mapped — Groups linked to external e-commerce platforms
You can edit, delete, or set as default any group from the list. The default group is automatically assigned to customers who do not belong to a specific group.
Map your customer groups to your e-commerce platforms so that pricing updates sync automatically. This saves you from manually updating prices on each platform.

Volume Discounts

Volume discounts let you create quantity-based pricing rules. Customers who buy larger quantities receive better pricing, encouraging bulk purchases.

Discount Types

WISEPIM supports several types of volume discounts:

Tier Pricing

Set fixed prices per unit at different quantity levels. For example, 9.99eachfor19units,9.99 each for 1-9 units, 8.99 each for 10-24 units, and $7.99 each for 25+ units.

Bulk Discount

Apply percentage or fixed-amount discounts based on quantity. For example, 10% off for 10-24 units, 15% off for 25-49 units, and 20% off for 50+ units.

Buy X Get Y

Offer free products when customers buy in multiples. For example, buy 2 get 1 free.

Flat Discount

A simple percentage or fixed-amount discount applied regardless of quantity. Useful for sales and promotions.

Creating a Volume Discount

You can create a discount from scratch or start with a pre-built template.

Using a Template

1

Go to Create Discount

Navigate to Discounts > Create Discount. You will see a selection of templates.
2

Choose a template

Pick the template that best matches your goal:
  • Simple Flat Discount — Fixed percentage off for sales
  • Flash Sale with Coupon — Time-limited discount with a coupon code
  • Buy X Get Y Free — Quantity-based free product offers
  • Bulk Volume Pricing — Tiered discounts for wholesale
  • Tier Pricing — Fixed per-unit prices at quantity breaks

Managing Volume Discounts

The Volume Discounts page gives you a full list of your discount rules with filtering and management options.

Filtering Discounts

Use the filter tabs to quickly find what you need:
  • All — Every discount you have created
  • Active — Discounts currently in effect
  • Scheduled — Discounts with a future start date
  • Inactive — Disabled discounts
You can also filter by scope (product, category, or global) using the scope dropdown.

Discount Actions

For each discount, you can:
  • Edit — Update the discount name, tiers, targeting, or schedule
  • Activate / Deactivate — Toggle the discount on or off without deleting it
  • Duplicate — Create a copy of an existing discount as a starting point for a new one
  • Delete — Permanently remove the discount
Deactivating a discount stops it from being applied to orders, but preserves the configuration so you can reactivate it later. Deleting a discount removes it permanently.

Pricing Tiers

Pricing tiers are the core of volume discounts. Each tier defines a quantity range and the discount or price that applies within that range.

Example: Bulk Percentage Discount

Quantity RangeDiscount
10 - 24 units10% off
25 - 49 units15% off
50+ units20% off

Example: Fixed Tier Pricing

Quantity RangeUnit Price
1 - 9 units$9.99
10 - 24 units$8.99
25+ units$7.99

Discount Methods

Each tier can use a different discount method:
  • Percentage Off — A percentage reduction from the original price
  • Fixed Discount — A fixed amount subtracted from the original price
  • Fixed Price — A specific unit price that replaces the original price
  • Price Per Unit — A set price per unit regardless of original pricing
Add a description to each tier (e.g., “10% off for 10-24 units”) so your team can quickly understand the pricing structure at a glance.

Scheduled Promotions

You can schedule discounts to start and end automatically by setting start and end dates.

Use Cases

Flash Sales

Run time-limited promotions that activate and deactivate without manual intervention.

Seasonal Promotions

Set up holiday or seasonal discounts weeks in advance and let them run on schedule.

Product Launches

Offer introductory pricing for a limited time when launching new products.

Clearance Events

Schedule end-of-season clearance pricing to start and end on specific dates.
Scheduled discounts appear in the Scheduled tab on the Volume Discounts page so you always know what is coming up.

Platform Synchronization

Volume discounts and customer group pricing sync with your connected e-commerce platforms automatically. When you create or update a discount in WISEPIM, the pricing changes are pushed to your platforms.

If you reach your plan limit, you can upgrade in Settings > Billing.

Best Practices

Set clear priorities

When multiple discounts could apply to the same product, use the priority setting to control which one wins. Higher priority discounts take precedence.

Test with a small scope first

Apply a new discount to a single product or category first. Verify the pricing is correct before expanding the scope.

Use customer groups for B2B

Create dedicated customer groups for wholesale and B2B buyers. Assign volume discounts specifically to these groups to avoid showing wholesale pricing to retail customers.

Schedule in advance

Set up seasonal and promotional discounts ahead of time with start and end dates. This eliminates the risk of forgetting to activate or deactivate a promotion.

Troubleshooting

Discount is not applying

  • Check that the discount is active and not just scheduled for a future date.
  • Verify the scope matches the product or category you expect.
  • Make sure the Apply To setting includes the correct customer group or “all customers.”
  • If a coupon code is required, confirm the customer is entering it correctly.

Wrong price is showing

  • Check for conflicting discounts with overlapping scopes. The discount with the highest priority value takes precedence.
  • If Combine with Others is enabled, multiple discounts may be stacking. Disable this setting if discounts should not combine.
  • Verify the calculation method is correct (replace price vs. discount on price).

Customer group pricing is not syncing

  • Ensure the customer group has a platform mapping configured for the target platform.
  • Check that the platform integration is connected and active in Settings > Integrations.
  • Review the sync status in the customer group details for any error messages.
