What Is the Audit Log?

The Audit Log records every action taken within Quality Guard — rule creation, quarantine resolutions, template applications, pre-flight checks, and more. It provides a complete, searchable history of who did what and when, giving you full visibility into your quality management process.
The Audit Log is read-only. It cannot be edited or deleted, ensuring a tamper-proof record of all quality-related activity.

Viewing the Audit Log

The Audit Log displays entries in a timeline format, grouped by date. Each entry shows:
  • User — Who performed the action, with an avatar and username
  • Action — What was done (e.g., “Rule Created,” “Quarantine Resolved”)
  • Entity — The specific rule, quarantine entry, or template involved
  • Timestamp — When the action occurred, shown as relative time with a full date on hover
  • Details — Additional context depending on the action type

Tracked Actions

The Audit Log captures the following events:
ActionDescription
Rule CreatedA new quality rule was added to the project.
Rule UpdatedAn existing rule was modified. Shows which fields changed, with old and new values.
Rule DeletedA quality rule was permanently removed.
Rule ActivatedA rule was enabled and is now enforced during quality checks.
Rule DeactivatedA rule was disabled and is no longer enforced.
Quarantine ResolvedA quarantined product was marked as resolved after fixing its data.
Quarantine BypassedA quarantined product was released without fixing the issue. Includes the bypass reason.
Pre-flight CheckA pre-flight quality check was run before an export. Shows products checked, blocked, and skipped.
Bulk Fix AppliedA bulk fix action was applied to multiple products. Shows success and failure counts.
Template AppliedA rule template was applied, creating one or more new rules. Shows how many rules were created.
Channel Rules UpdatedChannel-specific rules were added or removed. Shows rules added and removed counts.

Filtering the Log

You can narrow down the audit log using two filter dropdowns:

By Action Type

Filter to see only specific types of events. For example, select “Quarantine Bypassed” to review all bypass decisions, or “Rule Created” to see when new rules were added.

By Entity Type

Filter by the type of entity involved:
  • Rules — Actions related to quality rules
  • Quarantine — Quarantine resolutions and bypasses
  • Templates — Template applications
  • Pre-flight — Pre-flight check results
  • Channel Rules — Channel-specific rule updates
Combine both filters to drill down precisely. For example, filter by “Rule Updated” + “Rules” to see only rule modifications, without the noise of quarantine or template activity.
You can clear all active filters at any time with the Clear filters button.

Action Details

Different action types show different contextual details:

Rule Updates

When a rule is updated, the log shows the specific fields that changed along with their old and new values. For example: severity: warn -> block.

Pre-flight Checks

Pre-flight entries show the total number of products checked and how many were blocked, skipped, or warned. This gives you a snapshot of your catalog’s quality at the time of the check.

Bulk Fixes

Bulk fix entries show how many products were successfully fixed versus how many failed. This helps you evaluate the effectiveness of your bulk actions.

Quarantine Bypasses

Bypass entries include the reason provided by the user who approved the bypass. This creates an accountability trail for overridden quality checks.

Template Applications

Template entries show how many rules were created when the template was applied.

Channel Rule Updates

Channel rule updates show the number of rules added and removed for the channel.

Exporting the Log

Click Export Log to download your audit trail as a CSV file. The export respects your current filters, so you can export a focused subset of entries. Common export use cases:
  • Compliance audits — Export the full log for internal or external compliance reviews.
  • Bypass reviews — Export only bypass actions to review decisions that overrode quality rules.
  • Change tracking — Export rule changes over a specific period to document process improvements.
The export includes all visible fields: timestamp, user, action, entity type, entity name, and action-specific details.

Pagination

The Audit Log uses pagination to keep the page responsive. You can navigate between pages at the bottom of the log. The current page and total entry count are displayed above the timeline.

Best Practices

  • Review bypasses regularly — Bypassed quarantine entries represent intentional overrides of your quality rules. Review them periodically to make sure they are still justified.
  • Export before major changes — Before making significant rule changes, export the current log so you have a baseline record.
  • Use filters for investigations — When diagnosing quality issues, filter by the specific rule or entity type to see its complete history.
  • Track team activity — The audit log shows who made each change, making it easy to coordinate with team members and understand decision context.
  • Monitor pre-flight trends — Review pre-flight check results over time to see whether your catalog’s quality is improving or declining.
The Audit Log records all activity automatically. There is no way to selectively delete entries, which ensures the integrity of your quality audit trail.
