# Claude

> Connect Claude Code or the Claude apps to WISEPIM over MCP to search your catalog, read analytics and run changes, with an optional approval step in WISEPIM.

WISEPIM runs an MCP server that Claude can connect to. Once connected, Claude can search your catalog, read quality scores and analytics, look at your enrichment settings and prompts, and prepare enrichment, translation, research and catalog jobs. Every change runs through WISEPIM's own pipelines, and you decide per connection whether Claude applies changes itself or waits for your approval in WISEPIM.

**What this page enables:** you can work on your catalog from Claude Code or the Claude apps while Claude only sees one project, only with the permissions you allowed, and applies changes only within those permissions, with an approval step in WISEPIM if you switch it on.

**Where to find it:** start in Claude: in Claude Code, add the WISEPIM server with the command below and sign in through `/mcp`. Afterwards, manage the connection in WISEPIM under **Settings** > **Connected apps**.

## Ways to connect

| Where you use Claude | How to connect | Available |
| - | - | - |
| **Claude Code** | Add the WISEPIM MCP server with one command | Now |
| **Claude Code with the WISEPIM plugin** | The same connection plus 17 WISEPIM skills | Through Claude's plugin directory once the listing is approved; you can load the plugin from its public repository today |
| **Claude on the web, Desktop and mobile** | The WISEPIM connector from Claude's connector directory | Once the directory listing is approved |

All of them use the same server:

```
https://wisepim.com/mcp
```

> [!NOTE]
>
> `https://docs.wisepim.com/mcp` is a different server. It answers questions about these docs and has no access to your account or catalog.

## Before you start

* A WISEPIM account. No account yet? The sign-in page links to signup, and the connection picks up where it left off once you finish setup.
* A project you can edit if Claude should prepare changes. Write permissions are only offered for projects where you are the owner, an admin or editor, or have a custom role that can edit products.
* For Claude Code: version 2.1.231 or later, and port 8765 free on your computer while you sign in.

## Connect Claude Code

**1. Add the WISEPIM server**

Run this in your terminal:

```sh theme={null}
claude mcp add --transport http --client-id wisepim-claude-code --callback-port 8765 wisepim https://wisepim.com/mcp
```

`wisepim-claude-code` is WISEPIM's registered client for Claude Code. It has no secret, and you don't need an API key.

**2. Sign in from Claude Code**

Start Claude Code, run `/mcp`, pick `wisepim` and authenticate. Your browser opens WISEPIM.

**3. Sign in to WISEPIM and review the request**

Use your normal WISEPIM sign-in. The **Connect WISEPIM** screen shows which assistant asks for access and the account you are signed in with, followed by the **Requested permissions**.

**4. Choose a project**

Under **Choose a project**, pick exactly one: "Only this project will be accessible through this connection."

**5. Decide whether changes need your approval**

When the request includes a permission that changes the catalog, the card offers **Require approval before changes**. Leave it off and Claude applies the changes you ask for within its permissions: "Your assistant can apply changes and start jobs within the permissions you grant. WISEPIM still checks access, data freshness and credits." Switch it on and every change waits for your approval in WISEPIM. You can change this later under **Settings** > **Connected apps**.

**6. Allow access**

Click **Allow access**. WISEPIM hands the sign-in back to Claude Code on `http://localhost:8765/callback`, and the server shows as connected.

### The permissions Claude can ask for

| Permission | What it allows |
| - | - |
| **Read catalog** | Search products and view product data. |
| **Read quality information** | View quality scores and missing product information. |
| **Read task status** | Check progress and results of project tasks. |
| **Read project settings** | View configuration for the selected project. |
| **Read prompts** | View reusable prompts available to the project. |
| **Read analytics** | View project analytics and suggestions. |
| **Change catalog** | Prepare and apply product changes according to this connection’s approval setting. |
| **Change project settings** | Change configuration for the selected project. |
| **Change prompts** | Create and change reusable project prompts. |
| **Start enrichment** | Start native WISEPIM enrichment jobs using your saved configuration. |
| **Start product research** | Research selected products on the web using the granted permissions. |
| **Start catalog jobs** | Run catalog improvement jobs without publishing products. |

The consent screen lists exactly what this request asks for. Permissions never go beyond your own role, and WISEPIM checks your role again on every request. A permission that a newer version needs is not granted silently: you reconnect and approve it.

## Install the WISEPIM plugin for Claude Code

The plugin bundles the same connection with 17 skills: ready-made workflows that tell Claude how to use the WISEPIM tools step by step. It will be listed in Claude's plugin directory once the listing is approved.

Until then, load it from the public repository at [github.com/lldiegon/wisepim-claude-plugin](https://github.com/lldiegon/wisepim-claude-plugin). Clone it and start Claude Code with the `plugin` folder:

```sh theme={null}
git clone https://github.com/lldiegon/wisepim-claude-plugin
claude --plugin-dir /absolute/path/to/wisepim-claude-plugin/plugin
```

Then sign in through `/mcp` as above. Use a skill by its name, or just describe your task.

| Skill | What it does |
| - | - |
| `start-with-wisepim` | Helps you create or resume an account, finish setup and reach a first result. Works before you connect. |
| `catalog-quality-audit` | Finds stored quality scores, missing fields and translation gaps, and ranks what to fix first. |
| `enrich-product-content` | Prepares enrichment of descriptions, short descriptions, titles, SEO metadata or attributes. |
| `prepare-product-translations` | Prepares translations for chosen languages, fields and products, and tracks them. |
| `clean-catalog-data` | Prepares bulk text cleanup such as find and replace, case changes and trimming spaces. |
| `research-product-facts` | Researches selected products on the web and shows the sources before any change. |
| `enrich-from-research` | Turns research you checked into a reviewed enrichment. |
| `enrich-from-supplier-documents` | Reads supplier documents you already uploaded and completes imported supplier rows. |
| `assess-product-images` | Finds missing or placeholder images and prepares image jobs. |
| `organize-product-taxonomy` | Reviews categories, families and attributes, and prepares taxonomy jobs. |
| `manage-enrichment-prompts` | Prepares reviewed changes to your saved prompts and enrichment settings. |
| `analyze-commerce-performance` | Analyzes imported order metrics with explicit dates, store and currency. |
| `optimize-seo-performance` | Uses Search Console and GA4 data for selected products to propose SEO content fixes. |
| `prioritize-catalog-opportunities` | Ranks selected products by traffic and content gaps. |
| `channel-readiness-review` | Checks products against channel requirements you give it and lists the gaps. |
| `remediate-channel-issues` | Prepares fixes for stored channel issues without publishing. |
| `run-catalog-improvement-jobs` | Prepares and follows catalog jobs: filling gaps, supplier rows, images, category mapping and ad readiness. |

The plugin runs nothing on your computer: no local server, hooks or telemetry. It only talks to `https://wisepim.com/mcp`.

## Claude on the web, Desktop and mobile

The Claude apps connect through a WISEPIM connector in Claude's connector directory, with its own sign-in client. Once the listing is approved, add WISEPIM from the directory and go through the same sign-in and consent screen as above.

> [!WARNING]
>
> Adding `https://wisepim.com/mcp` as a custom connector by URL doesn't work: WISEPIM only accepts its registered clients and doesn't register new ones automatically. Use Claude Code for now, or wait for the directory listing.

## What you can ask

* "Help me get my catalog set up."
* "Find products missing a Dutch description and prepare them for my review."
* "Research missing facts for these products."
* "Use available search data to prioritize these products."
* "Review my enrichment settings and saved prompts."

For a precise selection, Claude turns your request into a WISEPIM filter, shows how it read it and how many products match, and only then works with that selection. If part of your request can't become a filter, it asks instead of guessing.

### The tools behind it

The WISEPIM server offers 35 tools. Each needs one or more permissions:

| Area | Tools | Permission |
| - | - | - |
| Products | **List authorized projects**, **Search products**, **Get product filter fields**, **Build a product filter**, **Get product details**, **Get WISEPIM setup status** | Read catalog |
| Quality | **Analyze product quality** (stored scores and missing fields, no paid audit) | Read quality information |
| Taxonomy, images and channels | **Get catalog taxonomy**, **Get product taxonomy**, **Assess product image evidence**, **Get channel issues** | Read catalog |
| Research and documents | **Get stored product research**, **List project documents**, **Read a project document** | Read catalog |
| Analytics | **Get project analytics**, **Get catalog suggestions**, **Get order metrics**, **Get analytics capabilities** | Read analytics |
| Search performance | **Get product SEO performance**, **Get catalog opportunities** | Read analytics and Read catalog (opportunities also Read quality information) |
| Settings and prompts | **Get project settings**, **List saved prompts**, **Get a saved prompt** | Read project settings, Read prompts |
| Catalog jobs | **List catalog job kinds**, **Estimate a catalog job** | Read catalog |
| Progress | **Get task status**, **Get catalog job status** | Read task status |
| Proposals | **Preview enrichment or translation** | Start enrichment (bulk edits: Change catalog) |
| | **Preview product changes** (exact text edits you ask for) | Change catalog |
| | **Preview project settings**, **Preview a saved prompt** | Change project settings, Change prompts |
| | **Preview web research** | Start product research and Read catalog |
| | **Preview a catalog job** | Start catalog jobs, Read catalog and Change catalog |
| Approval | **Get change review status**, **Apply approved changes** | The permission of the original proposal |

Catalog jobs cover five of the [Catalog Jobs](https://docs.wisepim.com/en/products/catalog-jobs.md): **Fill the gaps**, **Complete a supplier sheet** (rows you already imported), **Fix missing images**, **Map categories between shops** and **Get ready for Google and Meta ads**. Jobs started from Claude never export.

Claude can't handle billing, credentials, team access, deleting products, exports or publishing. It doesn't generate images, video or audio, read PDFs, or import new files. Do those in WISEPIM itself.

## Review and approve changes

![WISEPIM Review assistant changes page with an Awaiting review proposal, the action to authorize, its target of 3 products, the estimated credits, and a product shown by name with a German-flagged field and current and proposed values](https://mintcdn.com/swiftsyncai/sl_1qDozLiAn5HYQ/images/marketing-screenshots/settings/openai-review-light-branded.webp?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=sl_1qDozLiAn5HYQ\&q=85\&s=54f77ecf0c9e0184e79a7ccd7a3ff8a9)

Every change goes through a proposal, whether or not you approve it by hand:

**1. Claude prepares a proposal**

It freezes the exact products, fields, languages, saved prompt and settings, and works out a credit estimate. Nothing runs yet.

**2. With approval off, Claude applies it**

This is the default. Claude applies the proposal within its permissions and, for enrichment, translation, research and catalog jobs, starts the job. Ask it for the review link to see exactly what it did, and for progress until the job is done.

**3. With approval on, you review it in WISEPIM**

Claude gives you a review link and waits. The link opens **Review assistant changes**, signed in as the account that made the connection. Check the **Action to authorize**, its target, "Estimated WISEPIM credits" and every selected product by name and image. Text edits show **Current value** and **Proposed value** side by side, with a flag for the language of each translated field.

**4. You approve or reject**

Click **Approve this proposal** or **Reject proposal**. Claude has no tool to approve its own proposal, and a "yes" in the chat doesn't count as approval.

**5. Claude applies it**

Back in Claude, ask it to apply the proposal. For enrichment, translation, research and catalog jobs, this starts the job. Ask Claude for progress until it is done.

The proposal is fixed once it exists. If a selected product, the prompt or the settings change before you apply it, the status becomes **Needs a new preview** and Claude prepares a fresh one. For enrichment you approve the action and its estimate; the text is generated when the job runs.

> [!WARNING]
>
> With approval on: "Approval covers exactly this proposal. Your assistant must then apply it before it expires. Approval alone does not change your catalog." A proposal expires one hour after Claude creates it.

All review statuses are explained on [Connected Apps](https://docs.wisepim.com/en/settings/connected-apps.md#what-each-status-means).

## Credits

Actions started from Claude use your normal WISEPIM credits, from the same balance as actions in the app, and show up on the [Usage](https://docs.wisepim.com/en/settings/usage.md) page.

| What Claude does | Credits |
| - | - |
| Searching, reading products, quality scores, analytics, settings and prompts, building filters | No credits |
| Enrichment and translation | The estimate on the proposal, which Claude reports and the review page shows. If WISEPIM can't work it out, the page says "The credit estimate is unavailable. This action may consume WISEPIM credits." |
| Web research | Paid. The proposal sets a maximum based on the launch estimate; a product is charged once per research task, even if a request is retried. |
| Catalog jobs | The job's own estimate. The maximum on the proposal is an estimate ceiling, not a hard cap on final spend. |

## Limits

| Limit | Value |
| - | - |
| Projects per connection | 1 |
| Search results per page | Up to 50. The total count covers every match, and Claude can page further. |
| Natural-language filters | 10 requests per minute |
| Quality check | Up to 10 products at a time |
| Taxonomy and image checks | Up to 20 products at a time |
| SEO performance and opportunities | 1 to 50 selected products |
| Analytics period | Up to 366 days; the last 30 days by default |
| Enrichment, translation and bulk edit proposals | Up to 500 products. A larger selection fails as a whole; nothing is cut off. |
| Exact text edits | Up to 10 products |
| Web research proposals | Up to 50 products |
| Catalog job proposals | Up to 500 products |
| Proposal lifetime | 1 hour, or less if the connection expires sooner |

## Disconnect

In WISEPIM, go to **Settings** > **Connected apps**, click **Revoke access** on the connection and then **Confirm revocation**. This "stops new requests and invalidates pending approvals for this connection." Your catalog data stays in WISEPIM.

To remove the server from Claude Code as well, run `claude mcp remove wisepim`. Connections also expire on their own; the date is under **Expires**.

## Troubleshooting

> **Sign-in in Claude Code doesn't come back**
>
> Claude Code waits for WISEPIM on port 8765. Make sure nothing else uses that port and that you run Claude Code 2.1.231 or later, then authenticate again through `/mcp`. Don't change the port: WISEPIM only accepts `http://localhost:8765/callback`.

> **No projects are available with the requested permissions**
>
> The request includes permissions that change the catalog, so only projects you can edit are listed. Ask the project owner or an admin for an editor role, or deny the request.

> **This connection request is invalid or has expired**
>
> The request timed out, for example during a long signup. Start the connection again from Claude.

> **The WISEPIM connection is not available yet**
>
> WISEPIM can't accept new connections right now. Try again later.

> **This preview is unavailable**
>
> The proposal expired, the connection was revoked, or you are signed in to WISEPIM with a different account than the one you connected. Sign in with the right account, or ask Claude for a new preview.

> **Claude says a selection is too large**
>
> Proposals take at most 500 products. Narrow the filter, or ask Claude to split the work into batches that you review one by one.

> **Claude can't use a feature the plugin describes**
>
> Your connection may lack a permission that the newer skills need. Connect again and approve the new permission.

## Act on what you find

> **Claude found products with missing content**
>
> Ask it to prepare enrichment or translation for exactly those products, then check the selection and the credit estimate before the job runs: on the review page when approval is on, in Claude's answer when it is off.

> **Claude applied a change you wanted to see first**
>
> Approval is off by default. Switch on **Require approval before changes** for the connection under **Settings** > **Connected apps**, and every later change waits for you in WISEPIM. The review link for the change that already landed shows exactly what was applied.

> **You approved a proposal**
>
> Ask Claude to apply it, and later ask for the job's progress. A queued job is not a finished one.

> **A job finished**
>
> Ask Claude to read the products back, or open them in WISEPIM. Catalog jobs can leave suggestions in their review queue; check them in [Catalog Jobs](https://docs.wisepim.com/en/products/catalog-jobs.md).

> **You no longer use the connection**
>
> Revoke it under **Settings** > **Connected apps** and remove the server from Claude Code.
