# ChatGPT

> Connect the WISEPIM app in ChatGPT or Codex to search your catalog, read analytics and run enrichment, with an approval step in WISEPIM when you want one.

The WISEPIM app brings your catalog into ChatGPT. Ask which products miss a description, what your analytics say, or how your enrichment prompts are set up, and ChatGPT answers from your real project data. When you want something changed, ChatGPT prepares the exact change and runs it through the same enrichment, translation and bulk edit pipelines you use in the app. If you switched on approval for the connection, it sends you a review link first and waits for your decision in WISEPIM.

**What this page enables:** you can plan and run catalog work from a ChatGPT conversation without giving it a free hand: it sees one project, only with the permissions you allowed, and you decide per connection whether it applies changes itself or waits for your approval in WISEPIM.

**Where to find it:** start in ChatGPT: open the WISEPIM app and choose **Connect**. Afterwards, manage the connection in WISEPIM under **Settings** > **Connected apps**.

> [!NOTE]
>
> This is not the [ChatGPT Shopping channel in Feed Hub](https://docs.wisepim.com/en/essentials/feed-hub.md). Feed Hub sends your products *out* to shoppers. The WISEPIM app lets ChatGPT reach *in* to the catalog you work on.

## Before you start

* A WISEPIM account. No account yet? The sign-in page links to signup, and the connection picks up where it left off once you finish setup.
* A project you can edit. The app asks for permissions that change the catalog, so you need to be the project owner, an admin or editor, or have a custom role that can edit products. Viewers see no projects to choose.
* Credits for the actions you plan to run. Reading your catalog is free; enrichment, translation, research and catalog jobs use credits.

> [!NOTE]
>
> WISEPIM appears in ChatGPT once OpenAI has published the listing. If you can't find the WISEPIM app yet, the listing is still on its way.

## Connect ChatGPT to WISEPIM

![WISEPIM consent screen where ChatGPT requests access, listing the requested permissions, a project to choose, the Require approval before changes switch, and Deny access and Allow access buttons](https://mintcdn.com/swiftsyncai/sl_1qDozLiAn5HYQ/images/marketing-screenshots/settings/openai-consent-light-transparent.webp?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=sl_1qDozLiAn5HYQ\&q=85\&s=15024d141c47109ebe1ed93b29201294)

**1. Choose Connect in ChatGPT**

Open the WISEPIM app in ChatGPT and choose **Connect**. ChatGPT opens WISEPIM in your browser.

**2. Sign in to WISEPIM**

Use your normal WISEPIM sign-in. ChatGPT never sees your password.

**3. Check who is asking**

The **Connect WISEPIM** screen shows "ChatGPT requests access to your account" with the email you are signed in with. Signed in with the wrong account? Deny and start again.

**4. Read the requested permissions**

Every permission is listed under **Requested permissions** with a short explanation. The table below shows them all.

**5. Choose a project**

Under **Choose a project**, pick exactly one: "Only this project will be accessible through this connection." To use another project, connect again and pick that one.

**6. Decide whether changes need your approval**

Because the app asks for permissions that change the catalog, the card offers **Require approval before changes**. Leave it off and ChatGPT applies the changes you ask for within its permissions: "Your assistant can apply changes and start jobs within the permissions you grant. WISEPIM still checks access, data freshness and credits." Switch it on and every change waits for your approval in WISEPIM. You can change this later under **Settings** > **Connected apps**.

**7. Allow access**

Click **Allow access** and you're back in ChatGPT, connected. **Deny access** cancels the request.

### The permissions ChatGPT asks for

The WISEPIM app requests these permissions for its workflows:

| Permission | What it allows |
| - | - |
| **Read catalog** | Search products and view product data. |
| **Read quality information** | View quality scores and missing product information. |
| **Read task status** | Check progress and results of project tasks. |
| **Read project settings** | View configuration for the selected project. |
| **Read prompts** | View reusable prompts available to the project. |
| **Read analytics** | View project analytics and suggestions. |
| **Change catalog** | Prepare and apply product changes according to this connection’s approval setting. |
| **Change project settings** | Change configuration for the selected project. |
| **Change prompts** | Create and change reusable project prompts. |
| **Start enrichment** | Start native WISEPIM enrichment jobs using your saved configuration. |
| **Start product research** | Research selected products on the web using the granted permissions. |
| **Start catalog jobs** | Run catalog improvement jobs without publishing products. |

Permissions never go beyond your own role. If your role in the project changes, WISEPIM checks it again on every request. A permission added in a later version of the app is not granted silently: you reconnect and approve it.

## What you can ask

Talk to ChatGPT the way you would talk to a colleague who knows WISEPIM. For example:

* "Find products that need enrichment and suggest a WISEPIM action."
* "Find products missing key information, then prepare descriptions and German translations for my review."
* "Research missing facts for the products I select and show the evidence before proposing changes."
* "Review my enrichment settings and saved prompts."
* "Which of these products get search traffic but have weak content?"
* "Help me set up my first catalog."

For a precise selection, ChatGPT turns your request into a WISEPIM filter, shows you how it read it and how many products match, and only then works with that selection. If it can't turn part of your request into a filter, it asks instead of guessing.

In ChatGPT, some answers come with a WISEPIM card that shows the match count, the criteria it used and a link to the review page. The card has no approve button: when approval is on, approving happens in WISEPIM.

### The tools behind it

Each WISEPIM tool has a name, which you may see while ChatGPT works. Each tool needs one or more permissions:

| Area | Tools | Permission |
| - | - | - |
| Products | **List authorized projects**, **Search products**, **Get product filter fields**, **Build a product filter**, **Get product details**, **Get WISEPIM setup status** | Read catalog |
| Quality | **Analyze product quality** (stored scores and missing fields, no paid audit) | Read quality information |
| Taxonomy, images and channels | **Get catalog taxonomy**, **Get product taxonomy**, **Assess product image evidence**, **Get channel issues** | Read catalog |
| Research and documents | **Get stored product research**, **List project documents**, **Read a project document** | Read catalog |
| Analytics | **Get project analytics**, **Get catalog suggestions**, **Get order metrics**, **Get analytics capabilities** | Read analytics |
| Search performance | **Get product SEO performance**, **Get catalog opportunities** | Read analytics and Read catalog (opportunities also Read quality information) |
| Settings and prompts | **Get project settings**, **List saved prompts**, **Get a saved prompt** | Read project settings, Read prompts |
| Catalog jobs | **List catalog job kinds**, **Estimate a catalog job** | Read catalog |
| Progress | **Get task status**, **Get catalog job status** | Read task status |
| Proposals | **Preview enrichment or translation** | Start enrichment (bulk edits: Change catalog) |
| | **Preview product changes** (exact text edits you ask for) | Change catalog |
| | **Preview project settings**, **Preview a saved prompt** | Change project settings, Change prompts |
| | **Preview web research** | Start product research and Read catalog |
| | **Preview a catalog job** | Start catalog jobs, Read catalog and Change catalog |
| Approval | **Get change review status**, **Apply approved changes** | The permission of the original proposal |

Catalog jobs cover five of the [Catalog Jobs](https://docs.wisepim.com/en/products/catalog-jobs.md): **Fill the gaps**, **Complete a supplier sheet** (rows you already imported), **Fix missing images**, **Map categories between shops** and **Get ready for Google and Meta ads**. Jobs started from ChatGPT never export.

### What stays in WISEPIM

The app does not handle billing, credentials, team access, deleting products, exports or publishing to a channel. It doesn't generate images, video or audio, read PDFs, or import new files. Do those in WISEPIM itself.

## Review and approve changes

![WISEPIM Review assistant changes page with an Awaiting review proposal, the action to authorize, its target of 3 products, the estimated credits, and a product shown by name with a German-flagged field and current and proposed values](https://mintcdn.com/swiftsyncai/sl_1qDozLiAn5HYQ/images/marketing-screenshots/settings/openai-review-light-branded.webp?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=sl_1qDozLiAn5HYQ\&q=85\&s=54f77ecf0c9e0184e79a7ccd7a3ff8a9)

Every change goes through a proposal, whether or not you approve it by hand:

**1. ChatGPT prepares a proposal**

It freezes the exact products, fields, languages, saved prompt and settings, and works out a credit estimate. Nothing runs yet.

**2. With approval off, ChatGPT applies it**

This is the default. ChatGPT applies the proposal within its permissions and, for enrichment, translation, research and catalog jobs, starts the job. Ask it for the review link to see exactly what it did, and for progress until the job is done.

**3. With approval on, you open the review link**

The link opens **Review assistant changes** in WISEPIM, signed in as the account that made the connection. You see the action under **Action to authorize**, its target, "Estimated WISEPIM credits" and every selected product by name and image. For text edits you see **Current value** and **Proposed value** side by side, with a flag for the language of each translated field.

**4. You approve or reject**

Click **Approve this proposal** or **Reject proposal**. There is no tool that lets ChatGPT approve its own proposal.

**5. ChatGPT applies it**

Go back to ChatGPT and ask it to apply the proposal. For enrichment, translation, research and catalog jobs, this starts the job. Ask ChatGPT for progress until the job is done.

The proposal is fixed once it exists. Products that start matching your filter later are not added. If a selected product, the prompt or the settings change before you apply it, the status becomes **Needs a new preview** and ChatGPT has to prepare a fresh one. For enrichment you approve the action and its estimate, not the finished text: the text is generated when the job runs.

> [!WARNING]
>
> With approval on: "Approval covers exactly this proposal. Your assistant must then apply it before it expires. Approval alone does not change your catalog." A proposal expires one hour after ChatGPT creates it.

The full list of review statuses is on [Connected Apps](https://docs.wisepim.com/en/settings/connected-apps.md#what-each-status-means).

## Credits

Actions started from ChatGPT use your normal WISEPIM credits, from the same balance as actions you start in the app, and show up on the [Usage](https://docs.wisepim.com/en/settings/usage.md) page.

| What ChatGPT does | Credits |
| - | - |
| Searching, reading products, quality scores, analytics, settings and prompts, building filters | No credits |
| Enrichment and translation | The estimate on the proposal, which ChatGPT reports and the review page shows. If WISEPIM can't work it out, the page says "The credit estimate is unavailable. This action may consume WISEPIM credits." |
| Web research | Paid. The proposal sets a maximum based on the launch estimate; a product is charged once per research task, even if a request is retried. |
| Catalog jobs | The job's own estimate. The maximum on the proposal is an estimate ceiling, not a hard cap on final spend. |

The app never sells you credits or upgrades. Your existing plan and balance apply.

## Limits

| Limit | Value |
| - | - |
| Projects per connection | 1 |
| Search results per page | Up to 50. The total count covers every match, and ChatGPT can page further. |
| Natural-language filters | 10 requests per minute |
| Quality check | Up to 10 products at a time |
| Taxonomy and image checks | Up to 20 products at a time |
| SEO performance and opportunities | 1 to 50 selected products |
| Analytics period | Up to 366 days; the last 30 days by default |
| Enrichment, translation and bulk edit proposals | Up to 500 products. A larger selection fails as a whole; nothing is cut off. |
| Exact text edits | Up to 10 products |
| Web research proposals | Up to 50 products |
| Catalog job proposals | Up to 500 products |
| Proposal lifetime | 1 hour, or less if the connection expires sooner |

## Codex

The same WISEPIM app works in Codex. Open the WISEPIM connection in Codex, choose **Connect**, and go through the same sign-in and consent screen. The permissions, approval setting, credits and limits on this page apply unchanged.

## Disconnect

In WISEPIM, go to **Settings** > **Connected apps**, click **Revoke access** on the connection and then **Confirm revocation**. This "stops new requests and invalidates pending approvals for this connection." Your catalog data stays in WISEPIM.

You can also disconnect the app in ChatGPT. To be sure the access itself is gone, revoke it in WISEPIM as well. Connections also expire on their own; the date is under **Expires**.

## Troubleshooting

> **No projects are available with the requested permissions**
>
> The app asks for permissions that change the catalog, so only projects you can edit are listed. Ask the project owner or an admin for an editor role, or deny the request.

> **This connection request is invalid or has expired**
>
> The request from ChatGPT timed out, for example during a long signup. Start a new connection from ChatGPT.

> **The WISEPIM connection is not available yet**
>
> WISEPIM can't accept new connections right now. Try again later. Existing connections stay listed and you can still revoke them.

> **This preview is unavailable**
>
> The proposal expired, the connection was revoked, or you are signed in to WISEPIM with a different account than the one you connected. Sign in with the right account, or ask ChatGPT for a new preview.

> **The review page says Needs a new preview**
>
> A selected product, prompt or setting changed after ChatGPT made the proposal. Ask for a fresh preview and review that one.

> **ChatGPT says a selection is too large**
>
> Proposals take at most 500 products. Narrow the filter, or ask ChatGPT to split the work into batches that you review one by one.

> **ChatGPT can't use a feature it used to offer**
>
> A newer version of the app may need a permission your connection doesn't have. Connect again and approve the new permission.

## Act on what you find

> **ChatGPT found products with missing content**
>
> Ask it to prepare enrichment or translation for exactly those products, then check the selection and the credit estimate before the job runs: on the review page when approval is on, in ChatGPT's answer when it is off.

> **ChatGPT applied a change you wanted to see first**
>
> Approval is off by default. Switch on **Require approval before changes** for the connection under **Settings** > **Connected apps**, and every later change waits for you in WISEPIM. The review link for the change that already landed shows exactly what was applied.

> **You approved a proposal**
>
> Go back to ChatGPT and ask it to apply the proposal. Ask again later for the job's progress. A queued job is not a finished one.

> **A job finished**
>
> Ask ChatGPT to read the products back, or open them in WISEPIM. Catalog jobs can leave suggestions in their review queue; check them in [Catalog Jobs](https://docs.wisepim.com/en/products/catalog-jobs.md).

> **You no longer use the app**
>
> Revoke the connection under **Settings** > **Connected apps**.
