# WISEPIM Developer Portal

> Everything for building on WISEPIM: the Public API and OpenAPI spec, API keys and scopes, test projects, the docs MCP server, llms.txt and agent skills.

WISEPIM is an AI-powered product information management platform. This page collects every resource a developer or an AI agent needs to work with it: the REST API, how to authenticate, how to test without touching live data, and the machine-readable entry points to these docs.

## Start here

**1. Get an API key**

In the WISEPIM app, open **Settings > API Access** and click **Create API key** (project owners and admins). Choose the permissions the integration needs; the key is shown once. [How keys work](https://docs.wisepim.com/en/api-reference/authentication.md).

**2. Make the first call**

```bash theme={null}
curl https://wisepim.com/api/public/v1/me \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $WISEPIM_API_KEY"
```

The response names the project the key is bound to and the scopes it carries.

**3. Read the reference**

The [API reference](https://docs.wisepim.com/en/api-reference/introduction.md) covers paging, errors, rate limits and every endpoint with a playground. Import the [OpenAPI spec](https://docs.wisepim.com/openapi.json) into Postman, Insomnia or a code generator.

## Resources

| Resource | URL | Notes |
| - | - | - |
| **API reference** | [docs.wisepim.com/en/api-reference/introduction](https://docs.wisepim.com/en/api-reference/introduction.md) | Base URL, auth, paging, errors, limits, endpoints |
| **OpenAPI 3.1 spec** | [docs.wisepim.com/openapi.json](https://docs.wisepim.com/openapi.json) | Synced from the live API. Every operation has an `operationId`, a description and `x-required-scopes` |
| **Idempotent writes** | [Retries and idempotency](https://docs.wisepim.com/en/api-reference/introduction.md#retries-and-idempotency) | `Idempotency-Key` header on `POST /products`, `PATCH /products/{product_id}` and `POST /products/batch`; retries with the same key replay the original response |
| **API catalog (RFC 9727)** | [/.well-known/api-catalog](https://docs.wisepim.com/.well-known/api-catalog) | Linkset pointing at the spec |
| **Authentication** | [Authentication and scopes](https://docs.wisepim.com/en/api-reference/authentication.md), [/auth](https://docs.wisepim.com/auth) | Project API keys, scopes, errors, rotation; agent-facing summary at `/auth.md` |
| **API Access settings** | [Settings > API Access](https://docs.wisepim.com/en/settings/api.md) | Create, rename and revoke keys; limits per project and per person |
| **Developer portal on wisepim.com** | [wisepim.com/developers](https://wisepim.com/developers) | Quickstart, [Category Finder API](https://wisepim.com/developers/api/category-finder), [webhooks status](https://wisepim.com/developers/api/webhooks) |
| **Pricing** | [/pricing](https://docs.wisepim.com/pricing) | Plans, limits and AI credit rates in plain markdown at `/pricing.md` |
| **Status of SDKs and CLI** | | No official SDK or CLI yet. Generate a client from the OpenAPI spec with [openapi-generator](https://openapi-generator.tech/) or a similar tool |

### For AI agents

| Resource | URL | Notes |
| - | - | - |
| **llms.txt** | [/llms.txt](https://docs.wisepim.com/llms.txt), [/llms-full.txt](https://docs.wisepim.com/llms-full.txt) | Index of every page, and the full text |
| **Section indexes** | [/api/llms.txt](https://docs.wisepim.com/api/llms.txt), [/guides/llms.txt](https://docs.wisepim.com/guides/llms.txt) | Focused indexes for developer pages and for the guides |
| **Markdown for any page** | append `.md` to a page URL, or send `Accept: text/markdown` | e.g. [/en/api-reference/introduction.md](https://docs.wisepim.com/en/api-reference/introduction.md) |
| **Docs MCP server** | `https://docs.wisepim.com/mcp` | Streamable HTTP, no auth. Tools: search the docs, read pages. [Server card](https://docs.wisepim.com/.well-known/mcp/server-card.json) |
| **Agent card (A2A)** | [/.well-known/agent-card.json](https://docs.wisepim.com/.well-known/agent-card.json) | |
| **Agent skills** | [/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json](https://docs.wisepim.com/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json) | SKILL.md describing when and how to use WISEPIM |
| **WebMCP tools** | every page on docs.wisepim.com | Registered with `document.modelContext.registerTool()` (with `navigator.modelContext` as fallback): `search_wisepim_docs`, `open_wisepim_docs_page` and `ask_wisepim_ai`, for browsers and agents that implement the WebMCP draft |
| **Agentic Resource Discovery** | [/.well-known/ard.json](https://docs.wisepim.com/.well-known/ard.json) | Catalog of the entries above |
| **Product access for assistants** | [Connected Apps](https://docs.wisepim.com/en/settings/connected-apps.md) | ChatGPT, Codex and Claude connect to a project through a scoped OAuth consent; the user decides per connection whether changes apply directly or wait for approval in WISEPIM |

## Test without touching live data

There is no separate sandbox host. Create a **separate project** for development, fill it with a sample of your catalog, and create keys bound to that project. A key can never reach another project, so nothing your code does there can touch the catalog your live channels read from. See [Test safely](https://docs.wisepim.com/en/api-reference/introduction.md#test-safely).

## Webhooks

WISEPIM does not send outbound event webhooks yet. For change detection, poll `GET /products?updated_since=<ISO-8601>` on a schedule. For notifications from inside WISEPIM, an [automation](https://docs.wisepim.com/en/automations/overview.md) can post a JSON message to a URL you choose with its **Send Notification** step, and an automation with a **Webhook Trigger** gets its own URL your systems can call to start a run.

## Support

* Product questions: [contact WISEPIM](https://wisepim.com/contact) or email [info@wisepim.com](mailto:info@wisepim.com). Quote the `request_id` from any failed API response.
* Something wrong in these docs? Every page has a context menu to open it in ChatGPT or Claude, and the docs MCP server has a `submit_feedback` tool.
